The 1958 photo documents the change from incandescent to Mercury vapor street lights on Clark Street. The leftover streetcar tracks will soon to be paved over as well. Though our location is close to Sunnyside Avenue, the garage in the picture is called Clark-Wilson, since Wilson Avenue is a major street here in Uptown.
Today’s Clark Street has trees and retro street lights. The businesses are more upscale, with the garage replaced by a fashion outlet and jewelry store.
