Central Avenue Park ‘N’ Ride—CTA’s 1958 Plans

CTA already had plans for an ‘L’ line on the median of the Northwest (Kennedy) Expressway when this project was announced—a Park ‘N’ Ride garage on the southwest corner of Central Avenue and Northwest Highway. The facility would serve the Central-Foster ‘L’ station. CTA eventually chose to put a station a few blocks southeast of here instead, adjacent to the Chicago & North Western’s Jefferson Park station. In any event, the parking garage was never built.
