Portage Park’s Six Corners in its heyday! The older photo shows a Pullman-Standard trolley bus stopped for passengers next to the historic Borovik Drug Store. Behind the bus the sign for L. Fish Furniture is partially visible. And on the other side of Irving Park we see both Rubin’s and Abrams.
Today the trolley bus is gone, as are all the businesses I mentioned. The Sears store across the intersection has also closed. But there is new construction on the other side of Cicero, so we’ll have to see what the future brings.

Funny how little has changed in 54 years compared to other then and now photos. Sure, the businesses have changed with the times, but much hasn’t, including the ugly billboard on the roof of the building in the right foreground.
