Where in Chicago?

I started taking pictures of Chicago in 1959, when I was 12 years old.  I bought my first good camera in 1974 and took even more pictures, especially in the first few years, when having a quality instrument was a novelty.

I carried my camera almost everywhere I went.   When I got my prints back from Skrudland’s, I was careful to label them with place and date.

Well, at least most of them.  Here are three Chicago photos from the mid-1970s.  There was no caption on them, and I don’t know the locations.  If any of these spots look familiar, please let me know.

Having some good suggestions will enable me to Google-Earth the sites, and see if they match.  Maybe I’ll finally have a solution to some minor mysteries that have bugged me for forty years.

I don’t have the exact locations, but the 1976 photo is the kind of large apartment building that’s mostly along the North Side lakefront wards. Add in the one way street sign & that pretty much guarantees that, as there weren’t that many one way streets with large apartment buildings then.

The 1977 photo is probably either the Northwest Or Southwest Sides. That the left side of the street has no sidewalk, makes me think that is one of the numerous blocks in those areas that were owned by the school board & reserved for future schools. None of them have sidewalks.
One other possibility is Jeffery Manor, those unpaved streets were an atrocity!

Could 1977 be near 6100 N. Caldwell Ave. near Legett/Lenox/Leona et al?

Could photo number 2 be in Evanston? The apartment building style is similar to many of the buildings in southeast Evanston. The streets are on a diagonal, such as the tilt of the street grid in ETown to parallel the lake. There is a similar neighborhood feel south of Howard by Ridge.

However, could the angle of the street and multi-story building be in South Shore?

No, picture #2 [1976] is definitely in Chicago, because those are Chicago streetlights.
It certainly looks like a few buildings in Rogers Park, but the one I know that looks like it is at the corner of two one way streets & across from the L embankment. This is an almost identical building down to the basement stores.

In the 1976 picture, is that overhead garage door on the apartment building? The door is above the word “photo” and there are the “traffic horses” just to the left. It looks like underground parking for that building.

I’m not sure. But that’s another clue.

This building appears to be vacant as well as the street getting a new water line from the picture of two fire hydrants in it. So maybe the building was being rehab and the neighborhood got a new water line in 1976. I don’t know where to find City info on neighborhoods getting new water lines back then. This is really bothering me now because it looks so familiar to me and I can’t remember this location. lol
