Then and Now, Vincennes-107th

Vincennes Avenue follows an old trail southwest from Chicago. The streetcar tracks here were not in the center of the roadway, but next to the adjoining railroad right-of-way. That simplified traffic patterns, while providing higher-speed service.

The removal of the streetcar tracks allowed Vincennes Avenue to be widened to four lanes. The landscaping along the railroad tracks has also been improved.
