By 1910 the triple-intersection of Lincoln-Ashland-Belmont was already one of the city’s busiest outlying shopping centers. Notice the many electric utility poles used to carry power to the three streets’ streetcar lines.

Today the unsightly utility poles are gone. The neighborhood continues to thrive, complete with that iconic 21st Century symbol, a Whole Foods Market.
