Then and Now, Yates-99th

1938–Yates Boulevard @ 99th Street, view north

2021–the same location

During the 1930s the Chicago Park District took hundreds of photos to study traffic patterns on its boulevard system.  The photographers also recorded places where the Park District planned on building new streets—such as here, at the Yates Bog.

This part of Yates never did become a boulevard.  Today it’s a local street, lined with post-war yellow brick homes.
