Then and Now, Adams-Oakley

2019–the same location

Eighty years ago, this neighborhood just east of Western Avenue was valued for its proximity to the Loop.  Still, Adams Street was an arterial thoroughfare, and traffic going to and from downtown could be heavy.

After decades of decline, the Near West Side is now on the upswing.  The nearby Eisenhower Expressway has converted Adams into a local street, complete with traffic circles.
