On TV This Weekend—

Last spring I taped some segments about the Fort Dearborn battle for the TV program America Unearthed.  The episode itself is titled “The Blood Stone,” and will be airing on the History-2 channel this Saturday (January 3) at 8 p.m. CST, and replayed three more times during the following week.  Here’s the link to the America Unearthed website–

The episode is about the Waubansee Stone, and it’s a fascinating bit of speculative history.  My own contributions to the show were minor, so I don’t know how much airtime they’ll get.  However, I do hope they’ll show the part where I introduce host Scott Wolter to the Hancock’s 360-tilt.

You were very good, John. But holy cow, could that show have been more contrived. There was more fabricated drama than on American Idol. Dramatic music, that original doctor,,,,The only thing missing was Ryan Seacrest to say “we’ll meet John R. Schmidt……..after the break.”

      Benson–
Thanks for watching. It was fun doing the show, even at 6:30 a.m., before the 95th floor opened to the public. Everyone was very nice, and Scott particularly is an interesting guy. As for the format, they must be giving the public what works–the program has solid ratings.
