A Historic McKinley Park Building

3558 South Artesian Avenue

3558 South Artesian Avenue

When it was constructed by paving contractor John Dolese in 1863, this building stood a block east of here, on Western Avenue. Later it was owned by John McCaffery, a developer known as the “Father of Brighton Park.” The house was moved to its current site in 1920. Today the Dolese-McCaffery Home is one of the oldest buildings in the city. Fortunately, someone seems to be renovating it.
